Communities we serve

Psychiatric Care for Port Salerno Residents

Port Salerno sits on the south shore of the St. Lucie River inlet, a working-waterfront village of 10,401 people (2020 Census) wrapped around Manatee Pocket — the bay that runs from the village toward the St. Lucie Inlet, fed by Salerno and Manatee creeks. The median age is 52.0 and 29.1% of residents are 65 or older (2020 Census), and the median household income is $67,436 (ACS 2020–2024). This is a middle-income fishing community, not a resort town: the fleet still works the Pocket, and the Port Salerno Seafood Festival still fills the public docks and neighborhood streets early in the year.

Directory searches for psychiatric care with a Port Salerno address surfaced telehealth-only national listings and "near Port Salerno" therapy listings — no brick-and-mortar psychiatry practice with a Port Salerno street address surfaced. Health Haven serves patients from Port Salerno from its two Stuart offices, about five miles to the northwest, on the same side of the river.

Health Haven Stuart (Ocean Blvd) office at 816 SE Ocean Blvd — building exterior

Getting here

Health Haven Stuart (Ocean Blvd) — 816 SE Ocean Blvd, Stuart, FL 34994 · (772) 255-4697

From the village core, SE Cove Rd runs west and northwest out to US-1 (SE Federal Hwy) — FDOT's Cove Road study describes the corridor as roughly 3.2 miles from SR 76/Kanner Hwy east to US-1/Federal Hwy. Turn north on US-1 and you're at 1026 SE Federal Hwy. From central Port Salerno that's about 6–8 miles, roughly 15 minutes (est.).

The other route follows the village's own main street: SE Dixie Hwy, the A1A alignment through town, then north and east on SE St. Lucie Blvd past the Manatee Pocket shoreline and Sandsprit Park (3443 SE St. Lucie Blvd) toward SE Ocean Blvd in Stuart, where 816 SE Ocean Blvd sits. That's about 5–7 miles, roughly 12–18 minutes (est.).

Neither route crosses the water — Port Salerno and both offices sit on the same side of the St. Lucie River, so there's no bridge on this drive at all. Two honest caveats: Cove Rd is a two-lane corridor in its studied segment and the subject of an active FDOT widening study, so the Cove Rd leg can be slow at peak times (est.), and US-1 through south Stuart is a signalized commercial corridor where the last miles are stop-and-go at peak (est.).

Care available

Here's what we offer at our Stuart offices.

  • Psychiatric evaluations — a careful first look at what's going on, so we can talk through next steps together.
  • Medication management — prescribing and ongoing check-ins, adjusted as we learn what fits.
  • Therapy — talk-based care, one on one, at a pace that feels manageable.
  • Addiction recovery — support for substance use, wherever you are in the process.
  • Spravato (esketamine) treatment — offered at our Stuart (Ocean Blvd) office.

With no brick-and-mortar psychiatry practice surfaced in Port Salerno, residents already drive north into Stuart for psychiatric care — and Health Haven's two offices sit at the closest-in edge of Stuart's psychiatry cluster, minutes from the village on the roads people here already drive. Spravato (esketamine) is offered in Stuart (Ocean Blvd) only, a short hop up the A1A waterfront. Telehealth appointments are available anywhere in Florida, as long as you're physically in Florida at the time of your appointment. We see patients 12 and up (children 8 and up by referral), accept most major insurance plans — see /insurance — and have seven Spanish-speaking providers practice-wide.

Living here

Port Salerno is defined by water. Manatee Pocket — a bay extending from the village toward the St. Lucie Inlet, fed by Salerno and Manatee creeks — runs along the CDP's northwest edge, and the village was originally the hub for the South Florida commercial fishing industry. The working waterfront and fleet still supply fresh seafood to local restaurants and markets and the Port Salerno Seafood Festival, and sport-fishing tournaments run out of the marinas and parks on the Pocket. Sandsprit Park, at 3443 SE St. Lucie Blvd, is the front porch: a boat ramp, two fishing piers of 160 feet and 120 feet, bike paths, picnic sites and a playground at the entrance to the Pocket. Alongside the fleet, an artist community took root — the Fish House Art Center houses resident artists' studios, and the boardwalk "Pocket Walk" runs the shoreline.

Inland, New Monrovia is a named neighborhood within the Port Salerno Community Redevelopment Area, where Martin County's CRA documents record direction to preserve the community, its newly renovated one-room schoolhouse and New Monrovia Park, a 2-acre community park; park redesign and grant-funded septic-to-sewer work there are ongoing. The school chain runs Port Salerno Elementary (3260 SE Lionel Ter) → Murray Middle School (4400 SE Murray St, on the Stuart/Port Salerno border) → South Fork High School (10000 SW Bulldog Way). Port Salerno Elementary enrolled 730 students in 2024–2025, 616 of them Hispanic (NCES 2024–2025) — a school's enrollment, not a CDP figure. Across the CDP, 21.09% of residents are Hispanic or Latino (2020 Census), and 16.4% of persons age 5 and up speak a language other than English at home (ACS 2020–2024).

Why patients come

Port Salerno has no surfaced brick-and-mortar psychiatry practice, so care means a short drive north — and Health Haven's two Stuart offices sit at the closest-in edge of Stuart's psychiatry cluster, about 15 minutes (est.) to the Federal Hwy office via SE Cove Rd and about 12–18 minutes (est.) to the Ocean Blvd office via SE Dixie Hwy and SE St. Lucie Blvd, with no river crossing either way. In one practice you'll find evaluations, medication management, therapy, addiction recovery, and Spravato in Stuart (Ocean Blvd), with care shaped around an older waterfront community's real needs — late-life depression, anxiety, and grief — alongside care for families and teens in the Port Salerno Elementary, Murray Middle and South Fork orbit. And seven Spanish-speaking providers practice-wide meet a village where no Spanish-language behavioral-health practice surfaced. On the days the drive doesn't fit, telehealth from home is available anywhere in Florida.

  • No bridge, short drive — about 15 minutes (est.) to Federal Hwy and 12–18 minutes (est.) to Ocean Blvd, on SE Cove Rd and the A1A waterfront roads Port Salerno residents already drive.
  • A broad range of care in one practice — evaluations, medication management, therapy, addiction recovery, and Spravato in Stuart (Ocean Blvd).
  • Care matched to the community — late-life depression, anxiety, and grief, alongside care for families and teens.
  • Spanish-speaking care minutes away — seven Spanish-speaking providers practice-wide, for a village where no Spanish-language practice surfaced.
  • Telehealth from home — appointments from anywhere in Florida, on the days making the drive isn't practical.
