Psychiatric Care for Palm City Residents

Palm City sits on the west bank of the St. Lucie, a community of golf courses, marinas, and quiet streets where the median age is just over fifty and more than a quarter of neighbors are past sixty-five. It is an older, settled place, the kind of town where the weekly rhythm already includes the drive east over the Palm City Bridge — for shopping, for appointments, for the things that live on the other side of the river.

For psychiatric care, that bridge is the whole story. There is no dedicated outpatient psychiatry practice in Palm City itself, so residents cross into Stuart already. Health Haven's two Stuart offices sit at the two ends of exactly that drive: one on SE Federal Hwy, where Monterey Road arrives at US 1, and one on SE Ocean Blvd, a few minutes further.

Getting here

From Palm City, one road does most of the work. SR 714 — Martin Downs Blvd at your end, Monterey Rd in Stuart — runs east over the Palm City Bridge, across the South Fork of the St. Lucie River, to US 1. Our Federal Hwy office (1026 SE Federal Hwy) sits right at that end of the corridor; stay on SR 714 as it curves to Ocean Blvd and you'll reach 816 SE Ocean Blvd. It's about 4.5 to 6 miles from central Palm City, roughly 10 to 15 minutes.

From Old Palm City, SW Mapp Rd feeds the same bridge corridor, and the Indian Street Bridge offers another crossing into downtown Stuart. If the Palm City Bridge corridor is blocked, the long detour is north to the Roosevelt Bridge on US 1. SR 714 traffic also thickens near the Turnpike (Exit 133) and I-95 (Exit 110) west of Palm City.

Care available

Here's what we offer at our Stuart offices.

  • Psychiatric evaluations — a careful first look at what's going on, so we can talk through next steps together.
  • Medication management — prescribing and ongoing check-ins, adjusted as we learn what fits.
  • Therapy — talk-based care, one on one, at a pace that feels manageable.
  • Addiction recovery — support for substance use, wherever you are in the process.
  • Spravato (esketamine) treatment — offered at our Stuart (Ocean Blvd) office.

With no dedicated outpatient psychiatry practice in Palm City, residents already cross the Palm City Bridge for Stuart's services — and Health Haven's Spravato at Stuart (Ocean Blvd) sits along that familiar drive across the South Fork of the St. Lucie River. Telehealth appointments are available anywhere in Florida, as long as you're physically in Florida at the time of your appointment. We see patients 12 and up (children 8 and up by referral), accept most major insurance plans — see /insurance — and have Spanish-speaking providers on the Health Haven team.

Living here

Palm City's center of gravity is Martin Downs — about 2,400 acres around two 18-hole golf courses designed by Charles Ankrom: Crane Creek, opened in 1976, and Osprey Creek, opened in 1982. The gated neighborhoods along the fairways — Crane Creek, Osprey Creek, Eagle Lake, and Heronwood, with the Village Club & Preserve — keep a quiet, private rhythm, and Hammock Creek Golf Club, a Jack Nicklaus design, is the second golf anchor. Life turns toward the water: Leighton Park, at the foot of the Palm City Bridge, has boat ramps, a fishing pier, and a walking path on the river, and the Peter and Julie Cummings Library at 2551 SW Matheson Ave runs children's programs and writing clubs.

Families settle in for the long haul: Palm City Elementary, Bessey Creek Elementary, and Hidden Oaks Middle School are here, and high schoolers cross the river to Martin County High School on S Kanner Hwy in Stuart. Out west, Stuart West is a gated equestrian community with a 10-acre equestrian centre, and Palm City Farms keeps 5-acre equestrian lots. With a median household income around $125,820 and 89.7% homeownership, this is a settled, private community.

Why patients come

Palm City has no dedicated psychiatry practice of its own, so care means a short drive — and both Health Haven Stuart offices sit about 10–15 minutes away on roads residents already drive. The Federal Hwy office is at the end of the bridge corridor, and the Ocean Blvd office is a few minutes further. In one practice, you'll find evaluations, medication management, therapy, addiction recovery, and Spravato at Stuart (Ocean Blvd), with care shaped around an older community's real needs — late-life depression, anxiety, and grief — alongside care for families and teens. And on the days a drive into Stuart isn't practical, telehealth from home is available anywhere in Florida.

  • A short drive away — both Stuart offices are about 10–15 minutes out, on roads Palm City residents already drive.
  • A broad range of care in one practice — evaluations, medication management, therapy, addiction recovery, and Spravato at Stuart (Ocean Blvd).
  • Care matched to the community — late-life depression, anxiety, and grief, alongside care for families and teens.
  • Telehealth from home — appointments from anywhere in Florida, on the days making the drive isn't practical.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a psychiatrist in Palm City?

There isn't a dedicated psychiatry practice in Palm City itself — only two individual listings. Palm City residents come to Health Haven's Stuart offices for care. Palm City is a mix of ages, with 27.8% of residents 65 and up and 20% under 18, and a median age of about 51; Health Haven sees patients 12 and up, with children 8 and up by referral.

How long is the drive from Palm City to Health Haven's Stuart offices?

The drive is about 10–15 minutes, heading east on SW Martin Downs Blvd, over the Palm City Bridge, and onto Monterey Rd. The Federal Hwy office sits at the US 1 end of that corridor, and the Ocean Blvd office is a few minutes further. It's the same cross-river trip Palm City students make to Martin County High School at 2801 S Kanner Hwy in Stuart. Most major insurance plans are accepted.

What's the easiest route from Martin Downs?

Martin Downs sits right on the SR 714 corridor, so the route is a straight shot east over the Palm City Bridge and onto Monterey Rd. The Federal Hwy office is at the US 1 end of that corridor, and the Ocean Blvd office is a few minutes further along.

Is there another way across the river if the Palm City Bridge is backed up?

Yes. From Old Palm City, the Indian Street Bridge is an alternate crossing. The Roosevelt Bridge on US 1 is the northern detour if you'd rather come around that way.

Can I use telehealth instead of crossing the bridge for every appointment?

Yes. Telehealth is available anywhere in Florida, as long as you are physically in Florida at the time of your appointment. It can be a good option when crossing the bridge doesn't fit your day.
