Psychiatric Care for Wellington Residents at Health Haven

From January to April, Wellington hums. Wellington International runs 13 weeks of the Winter Equestrian Festival, with more than $16 million in prize money, the National Polo Center fills up on 120th Ave S, and South Shore Blvd and Pierson Rd slow to a crawl. Then the season ends, and the village goes back to what it is the rest of the year: about 62,662 people, 23.6% of them under 18, doing pickup at Wellington High, Palm Beach Central, Panther Run and Equestrian Trails.

Health Haven sees Wellington patients at the West Palm Beach office, 4400 N Congress Ave, Suite 203, West Palm Beach, FL 33407 — a 13-to-16-mile drive east that fits Wellington's normal 32.1-minute commute pattern. Psychiatric evaluations, medication management, therapy, Spravato, TMS and addiction recovery are all there, for patients 12 and up (children 8 and up by referral). When the drive is one thing too many that week, telehealth works anywhere in Florida — you just have to be physically in the state at appointment time.

Getting here

Most people take SR-7 (US-441) south from the Forest Hill Blvd area to Southern Blvd (US-98/SR-80), head east, then north on N Congress Ave. Off-peak that's about 25–30 minutes; weekday rush stretches it to 40–55, mostly because Southern Boulevard backs up. The other way is Forest Hill Blvd east the whole distance, then north on Congress Ave — roughly 25–35 minutes when the lights cooperate, 45–55 at rush. In equestrian season (roughly January through April) leave a little cushion for the South Shore Blvd and Pierson Rd pinch near Wellington International.

For visits that don't need the office — medication management check-ins, therapy, some follow-ups — telehealth is the from-home option for Wellington residents. You can be at home in VillageWalk or Arden; you just have to be physically in Florida at appointment time. Call the office at (561) 285-3623 to sort out what fits.

Care available

Wellington has psychiatrists of its own — a corridor of practices along Forest Hill Boulevard, plus offices near SR-7 and South Shore. This West Palm Beach office adds something different: breadth. Evaluations, medication management, therapy, Spravato, TMS, and addiction recovery all sit in one suite about a half-hour east of the village.

An evaluation is the long first visit — sorting out what's actually going on, whether it's anxiety, ADHD, depression, or something harder to name. Medication management is the follow-up work: checking how a prescription is landing and adjusting it. Therapy is the ongoing talk visits. Spravato is an in-office esketamine nasal treatment for depression that hasn't lifted with other medications. TMS uses targeted magnetic pulses and involves no medication at all. Addiction recovery care runs alongside the rest.

We see patients 12 and up, and children 8 and older by referral. Six providers on the team speak Spanish, which matters in a village where 32.7% of residents age 5 and up speak a language other than English at home. Most major plans are accepted — the full list lives at /insurance.

Living here

Winter runs on its own clock. From January through April the Winter Equestrian Festival fills Wellington International for 13 weeks, and the barns and showgrounds near South Shore Boulevard start before sunrise and run long after dark. The National Polo Center holds 300-plus acres and six polo fields as the USPA's official home, with the U.S. Open Polo Championship on the calendar. The 2025 season brought $536.2 million in county economic impact and nearly 5,000 jobs.

The rest of the year it's a school-run village: Polo Park, Emerald Cove and Wellington Landings in the middle, Wellington High and Palm Beach Central at the top, Panther Run, Equestrian Trails and Elbridge Gale for the younger set. Families settle into Palm Beach Polo, Olympia, VillageWalk, Arden or the Aero Club. The planned village holds about 62,662 people with a median age of 41.3.

Between the two rhythms are the trails: roughly 65 miles of bridle path threading the 9,000-acre Equestrian Preserve, used at odd hours by people who know which stretch holds water after a storm. Errands run through the Mall at Wellington Green. With 28.5% of the village Hispanic or Latino and 32.7% of residents age 5 and up speaking a language other than English at home, Spanish is part of the everyday background.

Why patients come

One office holds the whole toolkit: evaluations, medication management, therapy, Spravato, TMS, and addiction recovery sit in the same West Palm Beach suite, so a Wellington family juggling Wellington High and Palm Beach Central schedules isn't driving to three different addresses to piece care together.

Seasonal residents — the ones in town for the 13-week Winter Equestrian Festival and the polo calendar — can start in person and continue by telehealth from anywhere in Florida once they're back on the road. Telehealth helps the same way when barn and showground days begin before dawn. You just have to be physically in Florida at the appointment.

And six Spanish-speaking providers matter in a village where 28.5% of residents are Hispanic or Latino and 32.7% of residents age 5 and up speak a language other than English at home. Most major plans are accepted — the full list is at /insurance.

Frequently asked questions

How far is the drive from Wellington to your office?

From the center of Wellington it's about 13–16 miles to our West Palm Beach office at 4400 N Congress Ave, Suite 203 — roughly 25–30 minutes off-peak via SR-7 south, Southern Blvd east, and N Congress Ave north. If you're driving during Wellington's rush hours, plan on 40–55 minutes.

Do I have to come in person for every visit?

No — telehealth is available anywhere in Florida, so a Wellington resident can handle many visits from home instead of making the SR-7 and Southern Blvd drive each time. The one rule is that you must be physically in Florida at the time of the appointment. Spravato (esketamine) and TMS are done in person at the West Palm Beach office.

Can you see my teenager? She goes to Wellington High School.

Yes. We see patients 12 and up, which covers students at Wellington High School and Palm Beach Central High School. Children 8 and up can be seen by referral.

Do you have Spanish-speaking providers?

Yes — six providers on our team speak Spanish. That's worth knowing in Wellington, where 28.5% of the village is Hispanic or Latino and 32.7% of residents age 5 and up speak a language other than English at home.

I'm in Wellington for the winter season — can I start care now and keep it going?

You can start during Wellington's winter season and keep going with telehealth from your Wellington home, since telehealth works anywhere in Florida as long as you're physically in the state at appointment time. If you head north once the season ends, remember that visits can't happen while you're outside Florida, so line up appointments around your travel. Most major insurance plans are accepted, and the full list is at /insurance.
