Psychiatric Care for Land O' Lakes Residents
Land O' Lakes is a young-family town in central Pasco County, built around more than fifty lakes and the long north–south line of US-41. The 2020 Census counted 35,929 residents here, up 12.3% from 2010 after growing from fewer than 8,000 residents in 1990 — a community that grew from a handful of crossroads into a place of master-planned neighborhoods, two high schools, and a lake for every weekend. The median age is about 43, 21.2% of residents are under 18, and 17.5% are 65 or older. It is a town of school runs and commutes, not retiree rhythms.
For psychiatric care, the picture is thin but not empty. Directory searches surfaced two psychiatry listings with Land O' Lakes addresses — I Care Psych at 3632 Land O' Lakes Blvd and Vista Behavioral Health at 2718 Letap Ct — plus a therapy and psychology cluster in the same US-41 building, and more practices just south on the SR-54 corridor in Lutz. For a community of about 36,000, that is a light supply, and one of those Lutz practices states on its own site that it is self-pay only. Health Haven's Tampa office sits about 24 to 29 minutes south, at the end of the same US-41 and Dale Mabry drive Land O' Lakes residents already make toward Tampa.
Getting here
Health Haven Tampa — 3246 Cove Bend Dr, Tampa, FL 33613 · (863) 261-8354
From central Land O' Lakes — the US-41 and SR-54 intersection — one route does most of the work. Head south on US-41 (Land O' Lakes Blvd), then south on SR 597 (Dale Mabry Hwy) into north Tampa, toward the Bearss Ave / Bruce B. Downs area and Cove Bend Dr. It's roughly 13 to 16 miles, about 24 to 29 minutes in normal conditions. Our office at 3246 Cove Bend Dr sits in north Tampa, well north of downtown — so this drive is shorter than the drive most people picture when they think "into Tampa."
US-41 is a signalized arterial, not a freeway: the variability on this route is lights and school traffic on Land O' Lakes Blvd and Dale Mabry, not freeway jams. SR-54 is the CDP's commercial spine and thickens at the Collier Pkwy and US-41 intersections. If US-41 is backed up, two alternates exist — west on SR-54 to the Suncoast Parkway (SR-589, toll) and the Veterans Expressway, or east on SR-54/SR-56 to I-75 south. Both run longer in miles and the Suncoast route is tolled, but either can be quicker at peak. For context, the Census puts the average Land O' Lakes commute to work at about 30.6 minutes, so this range sits inside a normal local drive.
Care available
Here's what we offer at our Tampa office.
- Psychiatric evaluations — a careful first look at what's going on, so we can talk through next steps together.
- Medication management — prescribing and ongoing check-ins, adjusted as we learn what fits.
- Therapy — talk-based care, one on one: psychotherapy and counseling, at a pace that feels manageable.
Local psychiatry in Land O' Lakes exists but is thin for about 36,000 people: two psychiatry listings with Land O' Lakes addresses (one general practice on US-41, one child and adolescent practice on Letap Ct), a therapy and psychology cluster in the same US-41 building, and a handful of practices a few minutes south on the SR-54 corridor in Lutz — including Florida Family Psychiatry, which states on its own site that it is self-pay only. Health Haven's Tampa office adds evaluations, medication management, and counseling about 24 to 29 minutes down US-41 and Dale Mabry. Telehealth appointments are available anywhere in Florida, as long as you're physically in Florida at the time of your appointment. We see patients 12 and up (children 8 and up by referral), accept most major insurance plans — see /insurance — and have seven Spanish-speaking providers on the Health Haven team.
Living here
The name is literal: more than fifty lakes are counted locally, including the ski lakes — Lake Thomas, Bay Lake, King Lake, Curve Lake, and East Lake. (Lake Padgett's access is deeded through its special district, not public.) The neighborhoods have their own gravity: Connerton, off US-41 in the north of the CDP, built from 2004 onward, with Club Connerton, trails, boardwalks, and its own elementary school; Bexley, about 1,800 acres with 1,200 acres of preserved open space, Avid Trails, a BMX track, and Del Webb Bexley inside it; and gated Wilderness Lake Preserve, off US-41 north of SR-54. Beyond the subdivisions, Conner Preserve covers 2,980 acres on SR-52 with 15 miles of unpaved trails and 6 miles of equestrian trails, and Cypress Creek Preserve sits at 5550 Parkway Blvd. The civic heart is the Collier Pkwy cluster — the Land O' Lakes Branch Library at 2818 Collier Pkwy and the Recreation Complex at 3032 Collier Pkwy, home field for youth soccer and 14 pickleball courts. Dupree Gardens, one of Florida's original roadside attractions, opened in 1940 and now leaves only gate ruins; Plantation Palms Golf Club, an 18-hole course at 23253 Plantation Palms Blvd, anchors the south end.
Families settle in for the long haul. Two high schools sit inside the CDP — Land O' Lakes High School on Gator Lane and Sunlake High School on Sunlake Blvd — with Rushe Middle and Pine View Middle, and elementary schools including Pine View, Lake Myrtle, Connerton, Bexley, Oakstead, and Sanders Memorial. The 2020 Census put 21.2% of residents under 18 against 17.5% age 65 or older, with a median age of about 43 and a Hispanic share of 19.5% — a family town, not a retirement town. Median household income is around $98,000, and the population has grown by more than 70% since 2000, which means a lot of neighbors moved here recently.
Why patients come
Land O' Lakes has local psychiatry, but two listings for about 36,000 people is thin — and one nearby practice is self-pay only. Health Haven's Tampa office sits about 24 to 29 minutes south on the US-41 and Dale Mabry corridor residents already drive, with three services in one practice and telehealth for the days the drive doesn't fit. Care here is shaped around a young, fast-grown community: parent and teen stress, school-year anxiety, the strain of a recent move, and the ordinary adult conditions that come with a long commute.
- A straight shot down US-41 — about 24 to 29 minutes from central Land O' Lakes, on roads residents already drive toward Tampa.
- Three services in one practice — psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and therapy (psychotherapy and counseling) at the Tampa office.
- Care matched to a family town — parent and teen stress, school-year anxiety, and newcomer strain, alongside adult care.
- Telehealth from home — appointments from anywhere in Florida, on the days making the drive isn't practical.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a psychiatrist in Land O' Lakes?
Yes, some. Directory searches in October 2026 surfaced two psychiatry listings with Land O' Lakes addresses — I Care Psych at 3632 Land O' Lakes Blvd, Ste 101, and Vista Behavioral Health at 2718 Letap Ct, Ste 101 — plus a therapy and psychology cluster in the same US-41 building and more practices just south on the SR-54 corridor in Lutz. That is still thin for a community of about 35,929 (2020 Census), so many residents look further afield. Health Haven sees patients 12 and up, with children 8 and up by referral.
How long is the drive from Land O' Lakes to Health Haven's Tampa office?
About 24 to 29 minutes from central Land O' Lakes — roughly 13 to 16 miles — heading south on US-41 (Land O' Lakes Blvd), then south on SR 597 (Dale Mabry Hwy) into north Tampa toward the Bearss Ave / Bruce B. Downs area and Cove Bend Dr. Our office at 3246 Cove Bend Dr is in north Tampa, closer than downtown. Most major insurance plans are accepted.
Is there a faster way if US-41 is backed up?
Yes. West on SR-54 to the Suncoast Parkway (SR-589, toll) and the Veterans Expressway, or east on SR-54/SR-56 to I-75 south. Both run longer in miles and the Suncoast route is tolled, but either can be quicker at peak. US-41 itself is a signalized road, so the usual delay is lights and school traffic rather than freeway jams.
What does the Tampa office offer?
Psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and therapy — psychotherapy and counseling — plus telehealth. We see patients 12 and up (children 8 and up by referral), accept most major insurance plans, and have seven Spanish-speaking providers on the Health Haven team.
Can I use telehealth instead of driving to Tampa for every appointment?
Yes. Telehealth is available anywhere in Florida, as long as you are physically in Florida at the time of your appointment. It can be a good option when the US-41 and Dale Mabry drive doesn't fit your day.
Is there Spanish-language mental-health care in Land O' Lakes?
Directory searches in October 2026 surfaced no Spanish-language psychiatry or therapy service with a Land O' Lakes address — a "none surfaced" finding, not proof that none exists. Against a 19.5% Hispanic share (2020 Census), language access matters here, and Health Haven has seven Spanish-speaking providers on the Health Haven team.
