Communities we serve

Psychiatric Care for Mango Residents

Mango, Seffner, and Dover are three unincorporated communities in eastern Hillsborough County, strung along one road — Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, SR-574 — between Tampa and Plant City. Together they counted 24,327 residents on the 2020 Census: Mango 12,699, Seffner 8,362, Dover 3,266. They were founded as the three primary towns on the same South Florida Railroad right-of-way, and they still move as one corridor. The cluster is also one of the area's most Spanish-forward places: Dover is majority-Hispanic under both census measures — 71.3% on the 2020 Census and 59.3% on the ACS 2024 — and Mango is 37.1% Hispanic (ACS 2020–2024).

For psychiatric care, the corridor's picture is mixed, and it is worth stating plainly. No psychiatry practice with a Mango address surfaced in directory searches — Mango's results were telehealth and online only. Seffner has exactly one dedicated psychiatry provider, Whitechapel Behavioral Services, which lists a Seffner address on its own website — though the site's own branding says Brandon, and its other listings point to Brandon too. Dover has no dedicated psychiatry practice surfaced, but Tom Lee Community Health Center on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd lists Behavioral Health among its services, with bilingual staff. Dedicated psychiatry for the cluster effectively sits just south in Brandon and west in Tampa — which is where residents already travel. Health Haven serves patients from Mango, Seffner, and Dover from its Tampa office at 3246 Cove Bend Dr, and by telehealth anywhere in Florida.

Getting here

Health Haven Tampa — 3246 Cove Bend Dr, Tampa, FL 33613 · (863) 261-8354

From any of the three communities, one road does most of the work. SR-574 — Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd — runs west from Dover through Seffner and Mango to a diamond interchange with I-275 at Exit 46B; take I-275 north and you come up into the Bruce B. Downs Blvd / Bearss Ave area of north Tampa, where 3246 Cove Bend Dr sits. The alternate is I-4 west — it forms the northern boundary of both Mango and Seffner — then I-275 north.

Drive times to the office are estimates: about 20 to 25 minutes from Mango, about 25 minutes from Seffner, and about 30 minutes from Dover. For scale, city-point figures put Mango about 12.8 miles and roughly 16 minutes from downtown Tampa, Seffner about 14.6 miles and roughly 19 minutes, and Dover about 16 miles following the FL-574 route (published Dover–Tampa distances vary by source and endpoint) — the office sits north of those endpoints, which is why the estimates run longer. One caveat residents already know: FDOT is widening SR-574 from east of Kingsway Rd to east of McIntosh Rd, a 2.4-mile stretch through Seffner and Dover, with construction anticipated to begin in 2029 — the cluster's main street is a known pinch point.

Care available

Here's what we offer at our Tampa office.

  • Psychiatric evaluations — a careful first look at what's going on, so we can talk through next steps together.
  • Medication management — prescribing and ongoing check-ins, adjusted as we learn what fits.
  • Therapy — talk-based care, one on one, at a pace that feels manageable.

No dedicated psychiatry practice with a Mango address surfaced, Dover's behavioral health sits inside a community health center, and Seffner's one dedicated listing conflicts about whether it is in Seffner or Brandon — so care for this corridor already means Brandon or Tampa, and Health Haven meets it from 3246 Cove Bend Dr. Telehealth appointments are available anywhere in Florida, as long as you're physically in Florida at the time of your appointment. We see patients 12 and up (children 8 and up by referral), accept most major insurance plans — see /insurance — and have seven Spanish-speaking providers on the Health Haven team.

Living here

The three communities share more than a zip-code pattern: Mango, Seffner, and Dover served as the three primary towns along the South Florida Railroad right-of-way between Tampa and Plant City, each an important shipping center. Their main street has had three names — Highway 23, then Buffalo Avenue, for its erstwhile use as a buffalo trail, and since 1989 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. The Seffner-Mango Branch Library at 410 N Kingsway Rd, opened in 2009, is named for both towns and sits between them. Parks fill in around the corridor: Mango Recreation Center at 11717 Clay Pit Rd, Seffner-Mango Park, Mango Dog Park, and Lake Weeks, 57.73 acres of fishing water under Spanish moss in Seffner.

Schools follow the same blurred lines — Mango Elementary School at 4220 Mango Rd carries a Seffner address, and postal lines and community lines do not match here. Seffner Elementary sits at 109 Cactus Rd, Bailey Elementary at 4630 Gallagher Rd and Dover Elementary at 3035 Nelson Ave serve the eastern end, and high schoolers go to Strawberry Crest High School at 4691 Gallagher Rd in Dover — an IB school opened in 2009 and named to honor the region's strawberry growers — or Armwood High School at 12000 US-92 in Seffner. This is strawberry country: about 5,800 acres of winter strawberries are harvested each year in the Dover/Plant City area, the Winter Strawberry Capital of the World, with working farms on McIntosh Rd (Three Son Farms, Favorite Farms) and Gallagher Rd (Shady Acres). The cluster is also two economies on one road: Seffner's median household income is $93,333 with 83.5% owner-occupied homes (ACS 2020–2024), while Mango sits at $52,524 (ACS 2020–2024) and Dover at $49,693 (ACS 2024) — and Dover is young, with 34.1% of residents under 18 and a median age of 29.8 (both 2020 Census).

Why patients come

Mango, Seffner, and Dover already travel for dedicated psychiatry — Brandon sits immediately south and Tampa immediately west, and that is where the cluster's psychiatry listings live. Health Haven's Tampa office meets that drive at about 20 to 25 minutes from Mango, about 25 minutes from Seffner, and about 30 minutes from Dover, on the SR-574 → I-275 route residents already commute west on. In one practice you'll find psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and therapy, shaped around a corridor that is more than a third Hispanic in Mango and majority-Hispanic in Dover — with seven Spanish-speaking providers practice-wide. And on the days the drive west doesn't fit, telehealth from home is available anywhere in Florida.

  • A short drive west — about 20 to 25 minutes from Mango, about 25 minutes from Seffner, about 30 minutes from Dover, on SR-574 to I-275 north.
  • A broad range of care in one practice — psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and therapy at our Tampa office.
  • Care in Spanish — seven Spanish-speaking providers on the Health Haven team, in a cluster where no Spanish-language dedicated practice surfaced.
  • Telehealth from home — appointments from anywhere in Florida, on the days making the drive isn't practical.

Yes. Health Haven has seven Spanish-speaking providers on the team. The cluster is one of the area's most Spanish-forward — Dover is majority-Hispanic under both census measures (71.3% on the 2020 Census, 59.3% on the ACS 2024) and Mango is 37.1% Hispanic (ACS 2020–2024) — and no Spanish-language dedicated mental-health practice surfaced anywhere in Mango, Seffner, or Dover. Can I be seen without driving to Tampa?

Yes. Telehealth is available anywhere in Florida, as long as you are physically in Florida at the time of your appointment. It can be a good option when the drive west on SR-574 doesn't fit your day — including during the SR-574 widening construction anticipated to begin in 2029.
